A modern waste management concept is being developed in Prykarpattia

A presentation of the Integrated Waste Management Concept for the Dolyna Cluster in the Ivano-Frankivsk region was recently held. The concept was developed under Component 5 of the international technical assistance project “Strengthening the capacity of regional and local administrations for implementation and enforcement of EU environmental and climate change legislation and development of infrastructure projects (APENA-3 project).
This concept represents an important step toward building an efficient, environmentally safe, sustainable waste management system that meets European environmental standards.
The document outlines the key principles that will underpin the system:
• Waste management hierarchy
• Introduction of separate waste collection
• Development of waste collection and transportation infrastructure
• Development of waste recovery infrastructure
• Modernization of waste disposal infrastructure
• Closure and reclamation of existing landfills and dump sites
The APENA 3 project, supported by the European Union, aims to assist Ukrainian regions in implementing environmental policies in line with EU legislation.
