The Kalush City Territorial Community consistently implements modern energy solutions to increase energy efficiency and promote sustainable development.
Soon, the Kalush City Hospital will become energy independent.
The installation of a 110-kilowatt solar power plant, implemented through an ESCO contract, is nearing completion. This initiative will significantly reduce the hospital’s electricity costs and ensure an uninterrupted power supply even in the event of blackouts. As a result, the medical facility will become autonomous and resilient to energy challenges.
“We are working to ensure that all public institutions in our community — schools, hospitals, and sports facilities — gradually become fully energy independent. This is an important step toward the energy security of our community,” said Mayor Andriy Naida.
Kalush has also joined an international partnership within the SUN4Ukraine initiative, which brings together Ukrainian and European cities to collaborate on climate-neutral recovery.
Within the program, Kalush will partner with Rzeszów (Poland) — one of the cities of the EU Mission for 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.
Over the next 18 months, Ukrainian and European municipalities will exchange experiences and develop effective solutions in the following areas:
- adaptation to climate change;
- development of clean energy and sustainable mobility;
- financing of climate action;
- engaging residents in environmental initiatives;
- sustainable urban development.
The SUN4Ukraine project will run for four years and aims to support Ukrainian communities in their transition toward climate neutrality.
