New Temperature Records Recorded in Ivano-Frankivsk Region

On 28 June 2026, new temperature records were set in Ivano-Frankivsk Region. According to the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Hydrometeorology, the new maximum air temperatures for this date were: Ivano-Frankivsk — +35.6°C, compared with the previous record of +32.6°C in 1961; Kolomyia — +35.2°C, compared with +34.4°C in 1963; Dolyna — +34.5°C, compared with +32.2°C in 1967; and Yaremche — +33.8°C, compared with +32.5°C in 1963.

In some cities, the previous temperature records had stood for more than 60 years.

Extreme temperatures affect not only people’s well-being but also the condition of green areas, forests, small rivers, springs, soils, and agriculture. On hot days, mature trees play a particularly important role: their large crowns cool the surrounding area, reduce street and yard overheating, and help retain moisture. It is impossible to quickly replace such a tree with a young seedling, as these protective qualities develop over decades.

Youth Public Environmental Organization “Our Home — Manyava” monitors the dynamics of climate indicators in the Carpathian region. A more detailed analysis of the causes of temperature records and their consequences for communities and natural ecosystems is available in the sectionAnalytics».
