The initiative is being implemented as a result of the project ‘Strengthening the organization's capacity to implement humanitarian and environmental initiatives’ (2023, donor: Crown Agents).
After our meetings with children, youth, their parents, and teachers in March–April 2023, we found that rural libraries lack modern environmental literature. However, children strongly desire to gain environmental knowledge and participate in nature conservation activities.
In rural communities, there are no spaces where children can plan environmental projects and activities and learn to develop ecological thinking and skills. This is exactly how the idea of creating the center came about.
Our goal is to raise children’s awareness of ecology, sustainable development, environmental safety, and the natural heritage of the Carpathians through the operation of an environmental library and a learning space (educational laboratory) at the center, fostering their desire to gain environmental knowledge and participate in ecological activities.
Purpose:
Raising awareness of the youth of the Prykarpattia region on the issues of ecologically balanced development, regional and local environmental problems, and environmental protection activities to preserve natural resources through the functioning of the ecological and educational center at the organization.
Objectives:
1. To inform residents, including young people, about the state of the environment, environmental issues, eco-analysis, and environmental practices by operating an environmental library at the center.
2. To teach young people to analyze the environment through training, field environmental studies, and the operation of an environmental laboratory at the center.
3. To promote the best environmental practices of local communities and nature reserves by creating presentations, videos, and holding information meetings.
