This year was warmer than the previous record-breaking warm year of 2023 by 0.5-0.6⁰ (by 1.3⁰ in the highlands) and ranked first among the warmest years for the entire observation period throughout the region.The annual average temperature was 10.2-10.8°C, which was 2.1-2.4°C above normal, and 5.9°C in the highlands, which was 2.4°C above normal.
The average monthly air temperatures for each month, except November, were on average 1-4⁰C above normal, and February 2024 was the warmest for the entire observation period and exceeded the norm by 6-7⁰C.
During the year, 129 temperature records were recorded at the region's weather stations:
115 cases of exceeding the daily maximum air temperature, 7 cases of exceeding the absolute monthly maximum air temperature, and 7 cases when the average monthly air temperature was the highest for the entire period. Exceedances of the maximum daily average temperatures were also repeatedly recorded.
Precipitation was about 522-857 mm, which is 75-91% of normal, and 1876 mm in the highlands, which is 121% of normal.
The distribution of precipitation in different months was uneven, with above-normal conditions across the region in January, March, and November and deficits, sometimes significant, in May, June, August, October, and December.
